Job description

Overview

Lutron is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to join our collaborative team and contribute to high-impact projects. In this role, you will help design and refine the mechanical parts that power smart lighting and shading systems. At Lutron, your interest in mechanical design will grow through hands-on experience, practical skill-building, and collaboration with experienced mechanical engineers in a supportive environment.

We consider co-ops to be very valuable in our search for exceptional future members of our team and pride ourselves in providing outstanding work experience to students from a wide variety of universities and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Your co-op at Lutron could offer you the opportunity to work on:

  • Design of mechanical parts, including stress analysis, worst-case design, tolerance analysis, and review

  • Development of theoretical models, simulations, and prototypes to test and validate design.

  • Collaboration with radio frequency, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to refine mechanical design

  • Driving active projects in partnership with cross functional teams

  • Learning and applying newly adopted tools and technologies to enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability

Qualifications

We seek talented, success-minded people with the desire and ability to make things happen. Our baseline requirements are simple:

  • You are a rising junior, rising senior, or master's student at the start of the co-op

  • You have broad interests in engineering, design and development

  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.

  • Willing and available to work on-site 5 days per week

Lutron is a team-oriented environment, and you will work within these teams to look at broad issues and identify root causes, not just quick fixes. You must have a willingness to ask tough questions, seek out new resources, and work hard to find the best solution.

Here is what you can expect from our co-op program:

  • Competitive pay

  • Housing resources

  • Meaningful project-based work
