Job Title: Engineering Co-Op

Location: Belton, SC

Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Employment Type: Co-Op

Job Function: Engineering | Process Improvement

Job Summary:

Join our Engineering team as an Engineering Co-Op and assist in the support of manufacturing processes. You'll research and resolve production problems, address operating system issues, and help develop and implement standards for process equipment, tooling, and methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be an active participant in the Dodge safety program.
  • Create, improve and implement manufacturing processes using state of the art technologies such as machine automation, 3D printing, robotics, gear hobbing, induction heat treating, CNC programming and tool design.
  • Develops and drives implementation of best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and output quality.  Scope includes but not limited to scrap reduction, downtime reduction, FPY increase, OEE increase and warranty PPM reduction.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assist manufacturing engineering in support of the business/production unit.
  • Attend and participate in regular engineering meetings.
  • Participate in project engineering efforts associated with equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Assist the quality department to develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Assist in the recording, evaluating, and reporting of quality and reliability data.
