Co-Op Student- Gas Engineer

Wisconsin Gas, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Co-Op Student- Gas Engineer in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Pewaukee, Wisconsin locations. The role will start in either January 2027 through August 2027 or May 2027 though December 2027. The starting hourly rate for this position is $23.10 with paid company holidays.

Job Summary

Students will be provided with an opportunity to develop skills in engineering fundamentals related to the gas industry and overall project management. This position will enable the student to build a working knowledge of natural gas transmission and distribution engineering with exposure to a variety of gas facilities, construction projects, system maintenance, and asset management systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support network models of gas distribution systems.

  • Review and analyze gas asset information in various data systems (services, mains, valves, stations) and perform required updates.

  • Participate in training opportunities to learn about the natural gas industry, construction standards, work procedures, and associated materials.

  • Perform site visits to observe utility construction, maintenance, and customer service functions.

  • Design and generate reports for engineering, regulatory, and operational requests.

  • Assist engineers with capital construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSED

  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering majors with a graduation date later than July 2027

  • Minimum GPA of 2.8

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering

Pay Range Minimum: $23.10

Pay Range Maximum: $27.55

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
