Your Role at Baxter

Baxter seeks an ambitious R&D Manager to join our Care Communications business in Raleigh, NC. Baxter produces world-class medical solutions to empower clinical communication and collaboration and promote patient safety and happiness in the acute care hospital environment.

The R&D Manager is an exceptionally exciting role leading the successful completion of software development projects within boundaries of quality, time, and budget. The R&D Manager will lead a technical team and apply expertise to review and approve complex development concepts, ensuring flawless execution.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead and develop a team of 6 engineers
  • Serve as a critical-path R&D resource, directly influencing delivery timelines and product quality
  • Provide clear people leadership to a long-tenured team, navigating established ways of working while driving continuous improvement
  • Own delegation and prioritization across two major workstreams:
    • Next Gen product development
    • Sustaining / Legacy platform(new features and enhancements)
  • Partner closely with stakeholders to drive embedded build automation and improve development efficiency
  • Balance technical decision-making with coaching, alignment, and stakeholder communication
  • Act as a core R&D team member, helping define how development and testing are done
  • Drive execution, accountability, and outcomes across the team
  • Grow into the Core Team Lead for R&D within 12 months, serving as the R&D "face" for your product area
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency with embedded development
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in software development fields
  • Experience with microcontrollers and C/C++
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a diverse team to solve complex problems

The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
