Job description

Essential Responsibilities and Functions
• Focuses strongly on friendly and courteous assistance to customers; Provides outstanding customer service at all times.
• Provides relevant information to customers on products.
• Ensures all items are stocked and warehoused appropriately.
• Stocks and maintains inventory for grocery items: dairy, freezer, bulk tofu and dry pack.
• Refill bulk product bins.
• Provides support for cleanliness and safety of all store areas.
• Checks dates on all products as they are received and stocked.
• Ensures accurate, up-to-date price labeling (shelf labels) of department items.
• Fronts and faces areas as stocked.
• Prepares coffee, specialty coffee drinks, fresh smoothies, juices, wraps and sandwiches.
• Prepares and cuts fruit and vegetables for smoothies, juices, etc.
• Slices deli meats and cheeses.
• Follows all café standard procedures, including opening and closing process checklists.
• Prep, cull, rotate and restock produce cases several times daily to ensure highest quality and fullness of display to meet customer demand.
• Restock and maintain the produce floor displays to eliminate empty display areas, and to make a practical and aesthetically pleasing presentation.
• Complete all required opening and closing procedures in produce at the beginning and end of designated shifts.
• Process customer transactions through a point-of-sale system the register.
• Ensure all items intended for purchase are identified and properly scanned.
• Offers and encourages Co-op membership.
• Ensure accuracy of register transactions and the security of all cash received; maintain drawer change adequately
• Provide support for incoming phone calls.
• Others duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities
• Customer service experience required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience in retail, grocery, natural products preferred.
• Ability to use or learn how to use a scanning device.
• Proficient in basic computer skills; comfortability with Microsoft Suite preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team while being able to work independently without constant supervision and direction.
• Readily adaptable to evolving co-op needs or in response to feedback.
• Keen attention to detail and overall condition of products and department.
• Ability to follow and complete task checklists and fully carry-out instruction.
• Basic computer knowledge, ability to learn how to print labels and use scanner.
• Must have flexible availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays to align with store needs
