Job Description

The Firmware Engineering intern will perform project-oriented work under the direction of firmware development engineers that are focused on developing firmware for implementing features to control variable frequency drives (VFDs).

This is 12 month co-op and is full-time on-site at our Cambridge, ON office and does not provide relocation assistance.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop firmware.

  • Product testing and certification.

  • Coding activities (C/C++ and/or MATLAB/Simulink).

  • Maintain and develop test setups.

  • Maintain firmware metrics.

  • Document firmware applications and components.

  • Research into new technologies.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Must be working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics, Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.

  • Previous internship or co-op experience.

  • Experience with C/C++ or MATLAB/Simulink.

  • Exposure to oscilloscopes, multimeters and other hardware tools.

  • Experience with motor controls

  • Knowledge of PLC programming and Control Systems.

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.

For this role, the Hourly Compensation is from $20 - $32/hour. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
