Job description

Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Will support the daily operational and implementation needs of the EHS program at the Gainesville and associated sites. The incumbent will perform duties related to environmental, safety and industrial hygiene programs, according to federal and state regulatory requirements as well as the BI programs BE SAFE and BE GREEN. In coordination with the EHS Manager, the role will solely manage a limited number of EHS programs, depending on experience and background, and will support the department for the remaining elements while developing skills in these areas.

Manage a limited number of EHS programs Assisting internal customers with their EHS needs, such as permitting, making improvements, training and investigating incidents. Conduct inspections of contracted work, laboratories, waste management areas, and process and maintenance areas for compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. Participate in the site EHS Committee, Medical Emergency Response Team and Incident Response Team. Prefer someone with a couple years of education in a safety or environmental science program. Or a new graduate in a safety / environmental degree.
