Salary:

Field Technician (CO-OP)


GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Ontario and Atlantic Canada, and we are looking for motivated and skilled Field Technicians to join our Team. GEMTEC management understands that creative, talented employees are assets, and that investing in employee development is an investment in our firm. We currently have openings for contract Field Technicians in our Ottawa, Ontario office.


Educational & Experience Requirements:


The Successful candidate will have the following:


  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a College Diploma in civil technology or an equivalent program is considered an asset.
  • Experience with materials testing and inspection is an asset.
  • Experience working in civil construction is considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written.


Main Duties:


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates and asphalt.
  • Subgrade and foundation inspections.
  • Various office and field tasks related to materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.
  • Other duties as required.


Position:


  • Fall Co-op positions (SeptemberDecember, 4-month term)
  • Must have a valid drivers license and access to personal vehicle.


Pay Range: $20.50 - $23.50 CAD hourly


In alignment with Ontarios Employment Standards Act and paytransparency requirements, GEMTEC includes the expected compensation range in publicly advertised job postings for roles based in Ontario. This range reflects what GEMTEC reasonably anticipates paying for this position. Final compensation will be based on the successful candidates education, experience, skills, internal pay equity, specific Ontario location, or other factors unrelated to Ontarioprotected grounds.
