Job description

Kensington Locksmith Co. is growing and looking for a Field Technician in the Greater DC Metropolitan area.

You’ll conduct repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance on locks, panic bars, and other door hardware, and develop technical solutions to maximize the lifespan of our equipment and minimize security risks. Additionally, our technicians must be dependable and punctual, ensure accurate job completion, and fill in all corresponding electronic paperwork.

Compensation:

$62,000 - $82,000 yearly


Responsibilities:
  • Service and install commercial door and access control hardware

  • Install and/or repair a wide range of locks and door hardware, including commercial entry locks, gates, exit devices, door closers, and more

  • Fill out service and repair records as required

  • Complete maintenance and repair records as required

  • Perform key duplication, regular rekeying, master keying, and key internal management

  • Routinely perform maintenance and upkeep of inventory and proper operation and cleanliness of the company’s vehicle and equipment

  • Complete additional maintenance tasks as needed

Schedule:

  • 6-10 hour shift

  • Day shift - Monday to Friday

  • Overtime availability


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 2 years of related experience or trade school training

  • Any experience in commercial doors, automatic doors, hardware, locks, or keys

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Clean driving record

  • Background check (required)

  • General aptitude test and drug test required

  • Must have a positive & professional attitude

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work well under time and other constraints

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently

  • Strong attention to detail and processes

  • Good service orientation to customers

  • Ability to be successful in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds

Preferences:

  • Experience in metalwork, electrical, welding, or general construction is a plus

  • Any experience in commercial doors, automatic doors, hardware, locks, and preventative maintenance programs is a plus

  • Background knowledge in mechanical systems is a plus

  • Locksmith or Low-Voltage Electrician or other related certification is a plus

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Good troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent work ethic, time management, and attention to detail

  • Must be able to demonstrate advanced understanding of maintenance equipment, techniques, and procedures
