JOB TITLE: CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM (CNP) WORKER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED) and academic competency in basic skills. Good physical and emotional health including ability to perform duties described in essential functions.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Current health certificate
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB GOAL:
Demonstrates excellent customer service while preparing food that is attractive and nutritious; serves meals in a friendly and efficient manner.
CONTRACT: 182 Days FLSA: Non-Exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform work in the Child Nutrition Program in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
- Assist with basic food preparation and proper food storage.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Attends workshops relating to CNP as needed.
- Attends meetings as may be required by the school administration.
- Prepare food as assigned according to the planned menu.
- Follow recipes accurately.
- Maintain working knowledge of kitchen equipment.
- Prepare service lines for meal time.
- Assume responsibility for serving and replenishing menu items.
- Provides cordial and professional service while working cooperatively with others.
- Clean and maintain orderly, safe and sanitary conditions in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assume responsibility for storage and disposal of foods.
- Receives, transports and stores food deliveries appropriately.
- Display good personal grooming and appropriate dress for food service according to the Child Nutrition Program procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and school related information.
- Be regular and punctual in attendance.
- Perform duties in a manner that will promote good public relations.
- Understand and comply with Hartselle City Schools policies and procedures.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
- Capable of being trained in safe food handling techniques.
- Ability to communicate, understand verbal and written instructions.
- Capable of maintaining emotional control.
- Adequate physical mobility including, but not limited to, the ability to perform the below listed functions:
- Work in a standing position for prolonged periods of time
- Lift and/or carry moderate weight daily (15-45 pounds)
- Walk, balance, bend, kneel and reach
- Exert adequate force to push/pull at least 40 pounds
- Capable of working in an environment which may include, but not limited to, exposure to the following:
- Slippery surfaces
- Prolonged periods with hands in water
- Approved cleaning chemicals
- Common food allergens
- Extreme hot or cold temperatures
EVALUATION
Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
