Job Summary:
Research Innovations Inc. (RII) is redefining defense technology, seeking a committed CNO Developer to join their Cyber security team. The role involves solving challenging problems for Defense and Homeland Security customers through the development of advanced software capabilities.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Build offense-grade software that operates in denied, constrained, and adversarial environments
โ€ข Design, implement, and debug custom CNO capabilities across userland, kernel, and network layers
โ€ข Tear down, modernize, and re-engineer legacy and acquired tooling for performance, stealth, and maintainability
โ€ข Develop software that runs where defenders donโ€™t want it (Windows, Linux/Unix, embedded, mobile, and network devices)
โ€ข Perform deep binary analysis and reverse engineering across architectures and calling conventions
โ€ข Own and evolve reproducible build systems, toolchains, and test harnesses
โ€ข Work close to the metal: compilers, loaders, memory, execution flow, and runtime behavior
โ€ข Travel as determined by the customer
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Active US Top Secret security clearance
โ€ข Ability to upgrade to TS/SCI Special Access Program access
โ€ข Significant experience programming in C and Python
โ€ข Direct experience developing CNO or exploit capabilities
โ€ข Embedded or firmware development experience on resource-constrained systems
โ€ข Experience developing in one (1) or more of the following: Windows applications using Visual Studio or .NET environments, UNIX applications using make files or comparable build environments
โ€ข Familiarity with software version control tools (e.g., Git, Subversion, or CVS)
โ€ข Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo)
โ€ข Experience using software debugging/troubleshooting tools and techniques
โ€ข Software Analysis/Reverse Engineering experience
โ€ข Comfort writing assembly or mixed C/ASM when the problem demands it
โ€ข Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively interact with customers
Preferred:
โ€ข Mentored and coached other engineers or fulfilled the role of Tech Lead
โ€ข Experience working across OSI layers, including packet-level analysis and manipulation
