CNC / Manual Machinist

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC / Manual Machinist to join our team in North Houston (77073). The ideal candidate will have experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment, working with large industrial components, and maintaining tight tolerances in a repair and manufacturing environment. This role supports machining and repair operations for rotors, gas turbine components, cases, and other critical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
As a CNC / Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting a strong safety culture and driving a "safe-to-start" mindset.
- Aligning large rotors, gas turbine components, and other parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
- Programming and operating CNC lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), and milling machines.
- Reading and interpreting OEM drawings, Repair Engineering Instructions (REIs), work instructions, and digital routers.
- Applying Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to machining operations.
- Calculating and setting machining parameters including speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth of cut, and cutting angles.
- Entering, retrieving, and editing CNC machine control programs.
- Monitoring machine operations to identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and making necessary adjustments.
- Selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, tooling, attachments, and materials on mills, lathes, grinders, and other machining equipment.
- Supporting rotor shop and machine shop operations based on customer demand and production needs.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of machining experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Working knowledge of GD&T.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving algebra and geometry related to machining applications.
- Experience machining large industrial components while maintaining close tolerances.
