Wood Fabrication Specialist CNC Wood Router Programmer and Operator

Job Post Summary

The Wood Fabrication Specialist is responsible for programming and operating CNC wood routers and performing custom fabrication of wood-based products. This role involves creating scenic and custom-built items, interpreting drawings, and ensuring high-quality production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position requires strong craftsmanship, technical skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

  • Program and operate CNC wood routers using VCarve software.

  • Fabricate custom wood products including set pieces, platforms, furniture, and specialty items.

  • Operate additional shop equipment such as routers, sanders, saws, and drills.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and shop drawings.

  • Collaborate with designers and management to meet customer requirements.

  • Determine materials and dimensions for fabrication.

  • Optimize material usage and minimize waste through nesting techniques.

  • Maintain production quality and meet fast turnaround requirements.

  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of equipment and workspace.

  • Perform additional fabrication and shop-related duties as needed.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Trade school education or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with VCarve programming.

  • Strong ability to read tape measures and perform accurate measurements.

  • Experience with woodworking and fabrication techniques.
