Job description

Job Description:
Under minimal supervision, provide programs for CNC punch presses, CNC laser, and CNC press brakes to manufacture parts as required to meet production plans and quality standards. Concurrently working with engineering and planning/procurement departments to ensure efficient operations and on time completions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret prints and solid models.
  • Use Solid Works file packages to generate CNC code for punches and breaks from solid works models.
  • Reduce setup and punching/bending times through process improvements.
  • Manage, maintain, and deploy tooling when developing programs.
  • Generate setup sheets.
  • Provide feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
  • Write programs for new products ensuring compliance with all quality policies, solid models, prints, specifications, regulations and instructions.
  • Ensure input and output department files are completed in a timely manner.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce production costs while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Program, organize, log, update and maintain new and existing part files to the latest rev. level.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience with Solid Works is required.
  • Experience with Solid Works PDM is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of punch tooling.
  • Must have knowledge of brake tooling.
  • Experience in calculating K factors and bend allowances into flat patterns
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is required.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematic computations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to apply to practical situations. Shop math, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be familiar with quality standards (ISO9001).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and advise solutions regarding machining, work holding solutions and speeds and feeds.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow department and company policies.
  • Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with employees in other departments.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow written directions.

Education and Experience:
  • Must have at least 5-10 years of sheet metal experience.
  • Prefer at least 3 years operating a turret punch press.
  • Prefer at least 2-5 years' experience in programming in Tumpf or related CNC software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Engineering degree a plus.

Hours: 1:00pm to 9:30pm
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
