Job description

Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for inspecting incoming work for dimensional integrity and ensuring alignment with job specifications. You will machine pieces according to work orders, blueprints, and other technical documentation. Your role will involve setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, executing and recording established and operator-created programs, and maintaining seamless operations across shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming work for dimensional integrity and ensure it matches the job description.
  • Machine pieces in accordance with work orders, blueprints, and specifications, using reference planes, location of surfaces, geometric dimensioning tolerancing (GDT), and machining parameters.
  • Execute and record established and operator-created programs on mills and lathes by setting tools, offsets, and tool compensation.
  • Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts, including CNC mills and lathes.
  • Create, execute, and archive G-code programs accurately.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge and instruments such as micrometers and gauges.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on department equipment and notify management of any non-routine maintenance needs.

Essential Skills

  • 4+ years of CNC machining experience, including the setup and operation of lathes and multi-axis mills and grinders.
  • Proficiency in blueprint terminology and the ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Knowledge of G-code.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience in programming and operating an Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mastercam experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with CNC programming and mastercam programming.
  • Supervisory skills.
