Job description

CNC Machinist

As a CNC Machinist/Programmer you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce standardized test specimens from various types of metals.

Manual machining expertise will also be required.

This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. You'll interpret complex drawings, create efficient machining programs, and ensure every part meets strict dimensional and surfacefinish requirements.

Location: Louisville, KY

Shift: First

Hourly: $24.50 - 28.50

Your Challenge

  • Responsible for CNC Machining of parts to be tested

  • Responsible for simple manual lathe and mill work

  • Some CNC programming required for new parts, primarily tweaking old programming

  • Set up, operate, and adjust CNC equipment to produce precision test specimens

  • Machine a wide range of materials including steels, superalloys, aluminum, titanium, copper, nickel.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements

  • Perform inprocess and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision tools

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process or tooling improvements

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including setup sheets, program revisions, and inspection records

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced machining or technical training preferred

  • 1-3 years of machining experience

  • Familiarity of Gcode, tooling, feeds/speeds, and machining best practices

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T

  • Skilled in precision measurement and inspection techniques

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problemsolving ability, and attention to detail

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Preferred

  • Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)
