CNC Operator

Shift: 1st

Pay: $21–$23/hour

Location: Carol Stream, IL

We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team on 1st shift. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines and CNC surface grinders to produce precision metal components that meet customer specifications and quality standards. Candidates should be comfortable reading blueprints, performing machine setups, making adjustments, and inspecting finished parts using precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including Haas CNC mills
• Set up and operate CNC surface grinding equipment according to established procedures
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, cut sheets, and shop drawings
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, tooling requirements, and production specifications
• Adjust machine settings to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements
• Load and position materials safely for machining and grinding operations
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments
• Replace worn grinding wheels and tooling as needed
• Identify defects and make machine adjustments to maintain quality standards
• Complete production reports, quality documentation, and shift turnover paperwork
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
• Communicate production status and concerns with supervisors and team members
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety policies and quality procedures

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating CNC milling machines and/or CNC surface grinders required
• Experience with Haas CNC equipment preferred
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
