The CNC Operator & Metal Finisher will primarily run the CNC (Computer Numerical Controls) machine tools by inventory tracking raw materials and loading proper raw stock into stock feeder and This role is responsible for ensuring quality by observing for malfunctions. This individual will polish and de-bur machined parts by hand and with power tools to prepare them for the next step in the finishing process.

The CNC Operator & Metal Finisher is responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment and performing metal finishing activities to support the production of high-quality medical devices and components. This position ensures the efficient operation of CNC machines by loading appropriate raw materials, monitoring machine performance, maintaining production documentation, and performing required inspections.

This role is responsible for producing components that meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while adhering to all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. The CNC Operator & Metal Finisher performs polishing, deburring, and finishing operations to ensure components are ready for subsequent manufacturing processes and final product assembly.

The position contributes to operational excellence by supporting continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining an organized and safe work environment, and promoting MicroAire's commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

+ Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates CNC machine tools to manufacture components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Maintains inventory tracking while identifying appropriate raw materials and loading proper stock into machine feeders.
  • Monitors machine operation and performance to detect abnormalities, worn tooling, machine malfunctions, or quality concerns.
  • Measures and inspects completed workpieces using precision measurement instruments to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Maintains inspection records, production documentation, process sheets, and manufacturing logs.
  • Performs polishing, deburring, and surface finishing operations using hand tools and powered equipment.
  • Determines whether surface finish, cosmetic appearance, and dimensional requirements meet quality standards for the next manufacturing process.
  • Verifies parts conform to drawing specifications, workmanship standards, and quality requirements.
  • Packages and prepares finished products and components for movement to downstream operations or shipment.
  • Produces parts in accordance with established production schedules and departmental performance expectations.
  • Reports equipment issues, quality concerns, material discrepancies, and production interruptions to supervision in a timely manner.
  • Supports machinists, technicians, and cross-functional production teams as needed.
  • Participates in root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with applicable quality system requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO standards.

+ Work Environment, Physical Demands and Protective Equipment

  • Works primarily in a manufacturing machine shop environment, including CNC machining and polishing/finishing areas.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, machine tools, sharp components, cutting fluids, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stretch, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to traverse manufacturing facilities and access storage locations, machines, and workstations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Required to wear designated PPE, including approved eye protection and other equipment as required by work area.
  • May be required to participate in the Hearing Conservation Program and associated testing.
