Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Plate Roll Machine Operator to join an industrial steel fabrication team. This position is responsible for using an overhead crane to lift, move, and position steel plates into a CNC roll machine. The operator will use the machine’s control panel to flatten or form steel plates according to job specifications and fabrication drawings.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of continuously monitoring the product to ensure the required shape, flatness, and tolerances are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a CNC plate roll machine to flatten or form steel plates according to job requirements
• Use an overhead crane with lifting clamps, hooks, and chains to load, unload, and position steel plates
• Review fabrication drawings, specifications, and work instructions before beginning each job
• Roll steel products within the tolerances specified on drawings
• Continuously inspect the plate’s shape, flatness, and overall quality throughout the rolling process
• Identify and report defective materials, equipment concerns, or questionable conditions to the supervisor
• Accurately document job, production, and quality information using computer systems and paper records
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company procedures, fabrication standards, and OSHA safety requirements
• Attend safety meetings and actively support a strong workplace safety culture
• Work cooperatively with supervisors, managers, and employees across departments
• Perform additional duties as needed to support production operations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of experience in a steel fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment preferred
• Previous experience operating a CNC plate roll machine is strongly preferred
• Experience operating an overhead crane and using lifting clamps, hooks, and chains
• Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings, codes, specifications, and tolerances
• Ability to recognize material defects and product-quality concerns
• Basic computer skills for entering production and quality information
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Strong commitment to workplace safety

Work Environment

This position is performed in an industrial steel fabrication facility and requires strict compliance with all established safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Facility Superintendent and maintains direct communication with the Prefabrication Manager.
