Job Summary
The CNC Operator supports the Manufacturing Department by producing precision-machined components used in the assembly of rugged computer servers. This role ensures production targets are met through efficient operation of CNC mills, surface finishing, and vibratory equipment while maintaining safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities include setting up and operating equipment, monitoring part quality, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Essential Functions
  • Set up and operate CNC mills, surface finishing machine, and vibratory tumblers according to job specifications, setup sheets, and blueprints.
  • Load raw materials and tooling, adjust machine settings, and ensure proper alignment and calibration.
  • Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality and efficiency.
  • Identify and report any deviations or machine malfunctions promptly.
  • Complete required documentation including job travelers, inspection reports, and time logs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and daily cleaning of machines and work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure continuous improvement and resolve machining issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of CNC machining principles, including speeds, feeds, tooling, and cutting parameters.
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with machining safety protocols and workplace safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of inspection processes and quality control methods.

Skills
  • Proficient in operating CNC mills and related finishing equipment (Apex machine, vibratory tumblers).
  • Skilled in the use of precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person")
  • Education requirements: GED/High School Diploma
  • 1+ years of experience operating CNC machines in a preferred manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with G-code and CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, or Siemens (depending on equipment used).
  • Basic math skills and experience with measurement tools.
  • Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience operating CNC mills in a production environment.
  • Experience operating an Apex surface finishing machine and/or vibratory tumblers.
  • Completion of a machining or manufacturing technology certificate or apprenticeship program.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, or similar CNC control systems.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment with consistent exposure to the manufacturing floor and testing environments. May require lifting up to 40 lbs. and standing for extended periods of time.
