Job description

Job Title: CNC Turning Machinist

Job Description

This role produces precision aerospace components by operating CNC turning machines within a lean manufacturing flow line. You will perform value-added machining operations, follow standardized work instructions, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications and aerospace quality standards. You will actively support continuous production flow by monitoring machining processes, identifying abnormalities, and preventing defects from moving downstream, while also contributing to the creation, maintenance, training, coaching, and improvement of standard work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC turning machines to produce precision aerospace components in accordance with engineering specifications and aerospace quality standards.
  • Perform value-added machining operations on a lean manufacturing flow line while following standardized work instructions.
  • Monitor machining processes continuously to maintain steady production flow and quickly identify abnormalities or process deviations.
  • Prevent defects from moving downstream by inspecting work, recognizing nonconformances, and taking corrective action promptly.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to set up and run CNC turning operations accurately.
  • Use precision measurement tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and quality of machined components.
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and improvement of standard work for CNC turning operations.
  • Participate in training and coaching activities to help standardize best practices across the production line.
  • Collaborate with team members and support a lean production environment focused on continuous improvement.
  • Work with or alongside CNC mills, lathes, EDM machines, and multi-axis turning equipment as needed to support production.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of CNC turning experience.
