Job Description

A CNC Machinist is responsible for operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to manufacture precise and complex parts or components.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC Machines: Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) to produce parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Programming: Write or edit CNC programs using software like G-code or CAD/CAM systems to control the machine’s operations.
  • Setup and Calibration: Install and secure tools, fixtures, and parts into the CNC machine; calibrate machines to ensure correct measurements.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality using measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) to ensure that parts meet the required specifications and tolerances.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix any issues with the CNC machine, including adjusting machine settings or replacing parts when necessary.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn-out parts.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining processes.
