Job description

Job Title: CNC Machining Engineering Technician
Location: Columbus / Midland, GA
Employment Type: Full-Time, 2nd Shift
Type: TEMPT TO HIRE


Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machining Engineering Technician to support precision aerospace manufacturing operations involving advanced multi-axis CNC machining, including 5-axis grinding, milling, millturn, turning, and airfoil machining. This role is ideal for a highly skilled machinist or technician with at least 5+ years of hands-on CNC experience who excels in troubleshooting, process optimization, and supporting complex aerospace component production.

Technicians in this role will collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering, quality, tooling, and operations teams to improve machining performance, validate processes, and ensure parts meet stringent AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.


Shift Options:

  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM EST (Mon–Fri)
    OR
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM EST (Mon–Thu)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support advanced 5-axis grinding, milling, millturn, turning, and airfoil machining operations.
  • Develop and refine probing cycles and production inspection routines.
  • Set up CNC machines, validate tooling/fixtures, and ensure stable machining processes.
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, and setup-related production issues.
  • Apply strong knowledge of cutting tools, grinding tools, machining strategies, feeds/speeds, and optimization techniques.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing requirements for complex aerospace components.
  • Support machining of high-temperature alloys including Inconel, titanium, and other aerospace materials.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times, increase repeatability, and enhance throughput.
  • Ensure machining processes comply with AS9100, aerospace quality standards, and internal procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet performance, safety, and quality goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including setup, troubleshooting, and process support.
  • Experience with Vericut simulation software.
  • Background supporting one or more of the following:
    • 5-axis grinding
    • 5-axis milling
    • Millturn/turning
    • Airfoil machining
  • Experience working with aerospace materials (Inconel, titanium).
  • Familiarity with Siemens 840D, Heidenhain, or Okuma OSP controls.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and precision machining requirements.
  • Experience developing probing cycles and inspection routines.
  • Aerospace manufacturing, quality, or engineering environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and solve complex machining challenges in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in AS9100-compliant manufacturing.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and a background in continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of tooling design, fixture optimization, and multi-axis machining strategies.
