Description:

The Entry Level CNC Programmer is expected to learn to program and run programs for the machines in the CNC department. He/she must have a “can do” attitude to go above and beyond to ensure that the work produces consistent quality. He/she maintains safe working practices ensuring that the company and customers’ needs are satisfied in an efficient and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute CNC work and related work as needed
  • Maintain a good work ethic and attitude with co-workers, supervisors, and customers
  • Maintain excellent quality on all work completed
  • Follow and comply to the ISO quality standards
  • Assist in ensuring proper and safe operation and maintenance of all CNC machines and tooling, particularly the Haas router and Okuma mill
  • Help ensure that the CNC work area is safe for personnel and external visitors
  • Programming tool paths in CAD software such as Visual Mill, SolidWorks, and Mastercam
  • Loading G-code into CNC machines and running programs to complete complex parts from a variety of different materials
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment around the CNC area
  • Perform sweeping and general shop maintenance tasks as part of daily duties
  • Metal fabrication
  • Other duties as assigned by the CNC Department Head


Requirements:

Recommended Experience

  • Experience in a fast-paced, work environment with multiple facets in a constantly changing environment.
  • 3 years as a CNC programmer preferred; management is willing to train a motivated entry level applicant who does not yet have this experience
  • 3 years with CAD/CAM 3D modelling software preferred; management is willing to train a motivated entry level applicant who does not yet have this experience
  • Familiar with machining metrology, both in hand tools and computer assisted equipment such as touch probes
  • Reading blueprints and interpreting machinist symbols
  • Experience with coatings and different finish requirements
  • Experience with machining a variety of materials (plastics, metals, woods etc.)
  • Experience in health and safety procedures/policies
  • Experience with CNC programming and cutting, and general machining
  • Experience with ISO quality standards

Recommended Educational Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Associates or higher degree desirable
  • Valid Driver’s License required
