Job description

Operate and maintain the CNC Laser cutting machine and related tools and equipment. Operate the CNC Press Brake machines producing a variety of parts, all of which must meet the dimensional specifications of the drawings.


  • Perform basic CNC laser operation which includes loading correct materials onto machine utilizing an overhead crane, loading programs on machine control, running programs and inspecting parts for both cut quality and dimensional tolerance.
  • Perform basic CNC laser set up such as lens center, standoff and focusing to ensure acceptable edge quality of parts.
  • Select proper punches and dies based on material thickness and type for the CNC Press Brake Machine
  • Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
  • Knowledge of set up and operation of CNC controlled press brake to produce piece parts according to blueprint
  • Edit programs to make adjustments
  • Read measuring tools (dial calipers, micrometers)
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints and work orders/instructions
  • Perform manufacturing duties to meet daily production standards of quality and quantity
  • Communicate machine down-time, shortages, scrap, delays when applicable to Team Captain or Team Leader.

Education and Experience: 

  • High school or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Six months of experience setting up a CNC Laser cutting machine or CNC press brake machine preferred.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Complete standardized written documentation and correspondence. 
  • Professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations. 
  • Ability to perform basic electronic tasks using computer software and Microsoft Office.

  • Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to stand; use hands and fingers to manipulate raw materials, finished parts and cutting tools
