The CNC Operator will be located onsite in Penrose, CO with a transition to Pueblo, CO and reports to the Machining and Fabrication Manager. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components to blueprint specification, supporting Voyager Energetics' production needs as the team transitions to a new, automation-capable facility.

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes according to established programs, work orders, and setup sheets.
  • Load raw material, select correct tooling, and enter or adjust offsets within established program parameters.
  • Inspect in-process and finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision gauges to confirm conformance to specification.
  • Monitor running cycles and make minor adjustments to hold quality, tolerance, and cycle time.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Identify and report tooling wear, quality issues, or machine malfunctions to the lead or supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records, and support the team as the shop transitions to a new aerospace-capable facility.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 1+ year of CNC operating experience OR completion of a machining/vocational training program in lieu of experience.
  • Working knowledge of reading blueprints, work orders, and basic G-code.
  • Comfortable using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing quality parts to specification.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Eligible to pass an FBI/DoD background check and obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with basic CNC setup, tooling, or CAD/CAM software.

Travel, Physical and Government Mandated Requirements

  • Minimal travel expected; primarily an onsite role in Penrose/Pueblo, CO.
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds. Comfortable standing, walking, and working in a manufacturing environment for extended periods; use of personal protective equipment required.
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Compensation

The good faith base salary range for this role is $25.00 - $28.00 an hour at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
