Job description

We are seeking a reliable and motivated CNC   Setup Machinist with some prior experience.   The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in operating CNC machinery and a strong desire to expand their skills and responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to advance their career in a supportive and hands-on manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC machines (both lathe and mill – lathe experience is a requirement) safely and efficiently to produce precision parts.
  • Setup and Program CNC lathe and mills using conventional G and M code, and conversational programming
  • Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and inspection plans.
  • Load/unload parts, inspect work using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc. – using these measuring tools is a mandatory requirement).
  • Monitor machines for proper operation and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance (change tooling, clean area, etc.).
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and parts produced.
  • Work closely with senior machinists to learn setup procedures.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on increasing responsibilities over time.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum of CNC machine setup and programming experience on CNC lathe
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of G-code and CNC controls is a mandatory requirement.
  • Experience with Okuma, Haas, or Fanuc controls is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into a setup role.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team environment.
