Selected applicants will be hired as employees and paid throughout the training program.

Career Pay Progression:

• $15.16 per hour – CNA Student while attending the training program
• $16.47 per hour – Nurse Assistant after completing the training program
• $17.97 per hour – Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) after successfully passing the Colorado CNA certification exam

Program Timeline

• Applications Accepted: Now -Through July 24
• Interviews & Candidate Selection: July 27–28
• Onboarding: July 28–August 9
• Projected Class Start: August 10

• Classes are held Monday through Thursday 9:00am-4:30pm at an offsite location.
• Candidates selected for the program will be hired before training begins.
• Training includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical experience designed to prepare you for the Colorado CNA certification exam.

Essential Job Functions of NA:

• As assigned, provides direct care as defined by the patient care plan under the direction of a charge nurse.

• As assigned, assist patients in all activities of daily living, skin care, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, bowel and bladder functions, perineal care and catheter care, as directed.

• As assigned, answer patient call lights/signals to provide support in meeting patient needs.

• As assigned, assist in admitting and discharging patients, including inventory of all patient possessions.

• As assigned, serves and collects food trays and feeds residents requiring help. Determines amount of food eaten and fluid intake for nursing record.

• As assigned, documents care given on aide flow sheet. Reports changes in patient condition to charge nurse.

• As assigned, turns and repositions patients as needed, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores and applies appropriate supports if indicated.

• As assigned, demonstrate safe operation and care of equipment, reporting malfunctioning equipment to charge nurse.

• As assigned, change bed linens, direct visitors and answers telephone as needed.

• As assigned, take and record vital signs, food and fluid intake and output, as directed.

• Maintains confidentiality in patient and facility information. Treats patients with kindness, dignity and respect.

• Understand and uses Centers for Disease Control Universal Precautions, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and other infection control, hazardous communication and other safety rules as trained.

• As assigned, ensures cleanliness of assigned patient rooms and properly maintain and document patient restraints.

• As assigned, perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of the Nurse Aide role.

Minimum Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma is required. Previous work experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.

Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Knowledge of principles and processes in understanding individual differences in ability, personality, and interest. Providing an accepting behavior in the care and treatment of patients.

• Ability to operate general office equipment including computer software applications (e-mail, surveillance equipment/cameras).

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.

Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a TB test.
