As of Jun 1, 2026, the average hourly pay for cna qmap in the United States is $15.94, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $13.94 and $17.31 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CNA QMAP, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CNA QMAP (Certified Nursing Assistant and Qualified Medication Administration Personnel), you need strong patient care skills, a CNA certification, and a valid QMAP credential for medication administration. Familiarity with electronic health records, medication dispensing systems, and basic medical equipment is also essential. Compassion, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for supporting patient well-being and collaborating with healthcare teams. These skills ensure safe, accurate care delivery and foster trust and efficiency in healthcare environments.

How does a typical day for a CNA QMAP differ from a standard CNA position?

A CNA QMAP (Certified Nursing Assistant and Qualified Medication Administration Person) not only assists residents with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility, but also has the additional responsibility of safely administering medications. This dual role often leads to a more varied workflow, including maintaining medication records, observing for side effects, and coordinating closely with nurses and healthcare providers. The added QMAP certification can mean more autonomy and responsibility, as well as opportunities for career growth into medication administration or supervisory roles in long-term care settings.

What are CNA QMAPs?

CNA QMAPs are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who have also obtained certification as Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP). This dual certification allows them to provide basic patient care as well as safely administer medications to residents in certain healthcare settings, such as assisted living facilities. QMAPs do not make medication decisions but follow specific protocols for giving medication as directed by licensed professionals. This combination of roles helps ensure comprehensive care and medication safety for patients.
