To thrive as a CNA, you need basic medical knowledge, patient care skills, and completion of a state-approved CNA training program with certification. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), vital sign monitoring equipment, and mobility aids is typically required. Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal communication are essential soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring safe, attentive care and supporting the well-being of patients in a variety of healthcare settings.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in residential living facilities often encounter challenges such as managing multiple residents’ needs simultaneously, handling emotionally difficult situations, and performing physically demanding tasks.
