Blumenthal Arts seeks an innovative and data-driven Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead marketing, sales, and audience engagement efforts across the organizationโ€™s diverse portfolio of live events and experiences. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CMO will drive revenue growth through ticket sales, subscriptions, audience acquisition, and customer retention. Leveraging digital marketing, consumer insights, and CRM analytics, the CMO will develop targeted campaigns that maximize attendance, engagement, and lifetime customer value. Reporting to the President & CEO, this leader will collaborate across departments to align marketing strategies with organizational goals and audience development priorities. The ideal candidate is a strategic, results-oriented marketer with a proven track record of driving earned revenue, growing audiences, and fostering long-term customer relationships.

Your impact:
  • Develop integrated marketing strategies and processesto support the full range of Blumenthalโ€™s programs and initiatives. This includes Broadway tours, concerts, speakers, immersive experiences, outdoor festivals, special events, education programs, and community events.
  • Directly oversees the Marketing and Ticketing Departments.
  • Drive digital use and innovation in marketing across all digital channels.
  • Guide the strategic use of data analytics, reporting, and AudienceViewโ€™s CRM capabilities to generate audience insights that drive enhanced segmentation and tailored communications, measure campaign effectiveness, and support long-term audience development and retention.
  • Oversee Blumenthal staff who work with touring show press agents, producers, and national marketing teams to ensure an effective working relationship.
  • Oversee departmental budgets and cost-effective allocation of resources aligned with performance and strategic priorities.
  • Design and implement consumer research strategies including post-show surveys, audience feedback tools, and focus groups.
  • Lead efforts to grow single ticket, subscription, and group sales through targeted campaigns, pricing strategies, and audience segmentation.
  • Works collaboratively with the Chief Community Impact and Partnership (CIP) Officer. The CMO has primary responsibility for marketing that drives earned revenue and audience growth. The Chief CIP Officer leads fundraising, institutional communications and public relations, community storytelling and partnerships.
  • Leads brand standards and their implementation across marketing channels; collaborates with the Chief CIP Officer to align marketing initiatives with organizational storytelling to ensure brand consistency.
  • Leads audience- and event-related crisis communications; partners with the Chief CIP Officer on institutional, community, donor, and media communications.
  • Works collaboratively with Chief CIP Officer who directly supervises the Digital Communications Manager on use of social media for event sales and earned income revenue generation.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and organization-wide implementation of brand standards and guidelines to ensure alignment across all external communications.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to align marketing efforts with institutional goals.
  • Lead and contribute to creative development and positioning strategies for marketing new programs, productions, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to align messaging, support engagement initiatives, and strengthen connections with community stakeholders.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies that support marketing, ticketing and salesโ€”including AI, marketing automation, predictive analytics, and new audience engagement tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Present and interact with members of the Board of Trustees and provide staff support to assigned committees.
  • Work cross-departmentally to ensure and enhance the overall venue guest experience, from purchase to attendance, sothat it is memorable and builds loyalty.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing and sales team to support professional growth and organizational success.
  • Network widely with industry peers to stay current on best practices, share experiences with recent events, and explore emerging methods and innovations.

Skills Youโ€™ll Bring:
  • Requires a bachelorโ€™s degree in marketing, advertising, communication, business, or a related field supplemented by at least 10 years of marketing experience with at least 5 years senior-level marketing experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Experience leading marketing for consumer-facing organizations with significant ticketed, membership, hospitality, sports, entertainment, or live-event revenue is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience in CRM platforms, pricing, segmentation, and analytics.
  • Familiarity with Broadway touring and national promotional practices is a plus.
  • Proven track record in driving revenue and meeting or exceeding budget goals.
  • Background in consumer research, survey design, and focus group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to creative concept development and brand storytelling.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and project management skills.
  • Passion for the arts, entertainment, and education as essential elements of a vibrant, healthy community.
