Position Summary
The Journeyman Tool and Die Maker plans, makes bench layouts, fabricates and repairs a wide variety of tooling; holding extremely close tolerances.
What you will be doing:
  • Plan and make bench layouts of a variety of tools, gages, dies, jigs, fixtures, special machine parts and attachments, etc. holding extremely close tolerances
  • Perform first-article, in-process, and final dimension inspections
  • Load, execute, modify, write, and troubleshoot CMM programs
  • Perform routine calibration checks and preventative maintenance on CMM probes and tools
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and equipment such as sine bars, height gauges, gate blocks, indicators, micrometers, standard gauges, etc.
  • Work from blueprints, sketches, 3-D models, verbal and written instructions.
  • Handle parts manually or with the aid of material handling equipment.

Basic Requirements:
  • Must have completed a formal apprenticeship or 8 years of equivalent training/experience to qualify as a Journeyman.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • In order to qualify for this position, you must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred:
  • Training and experience in the set up and operation of CMM machines.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and shop math, including trigonometry and GD&T principles.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
