Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 18 months of PCU experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in a 32-bed Progressive Care Unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
  • Patient population includes CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infection, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA cases not requiring mechanical ventilation
  • RN to patient ratio is typically 1:4, with possible increase to 1:5 depending on acuity
  • 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0700, totaling 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3am for night shift
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
  • Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Daytime receptionist/HUC support available
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
  • Most recent clinical experience within the last year required
  • Experience with trach care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
