Position Summary

The Health Technician provides clinical and administrative support to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This role performs patient intake, basic clinical procedures, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, documentation, and patient education while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. The Health Technician plays an essential role in maintaining efficient clinical operations and promoting a positive patient experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, medical history, and chief complaints.
  • Assist physicians and nursing staff during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing such as EKGs, vision screenings, hearing tests, spirometry, and point-of-care laboratory testing, as appropriate.
  • Collect blood, urine, and other specimens according to facility protocols.
  • Prepare and transport specimens to the laboratory.
  • Clean, disinfect, and prepare examination rooms and medical equipment.
  • Maintain clinical supplies and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
