This is a full time, benefit eligible opportunity typically working onsite at our Lakeside Clubhouse in Holland. Typical schedule is Monday - Friday during day time hours. Occasional weekend/evening/holiday hours.

Responsible for maintaining the therapeutic value of the clubhouse by working along with the club membership planning, providing and teaching a wide variety of tasks and activities that promote and maintain the value of the clubhouse. Provides members with opportunities to develop and exercise social roles and competencies that are relevant to each member's achievement of their personally valued outcomes.

Clubhouse Generalists have generalist roles and share employment, community support, evening/weekend/holiday, and unit responsibilities. Central to this role is the energetic engagement of members in all aspects of unit and Clubhouse operations. Generalists utilize the Clubhouse International Standards as best practice and follow the strengths-based and person-centered models to facilitate member engagement.

Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization's Mission in all actions and communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and operate in accordance with the Clubhousephilosophy and policy as outlined in the Clubhouse International model.
  • Ensure member engagement with all Clubhouse opportunities including: the Work Ordered Day, Employment, Education, Outreach, Social Activities, Wellness Initiatives and Decision Making.
  • Adapt activities to engage many members and meet the needs of the Club as a whole.
  • Add value to unit tasks within the clubhouse to maximum member participation.
  • Maintain communication at various levels through a range of mechanisms.
  • Assist with the development of appropriate linkages with other community agencies, clinical services, government departments and other relevant programs.
  • Work as part of a team in the Clubhouse vocational rehabilitation program. Includes, training, working alongside and absence coverage for members at their place of employment.
  • Maintain complete, on time and detailed records consistent with agency standards, procedures and requirements of third party funding and accreditation sources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain focus in a dynamic environment with many interruptions.
  • Self-starter and encouraging demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy for 8 hours.
  • Ability to analyze tasks and spaces for barriers to utilization.
  • Ability to engage with small and large groups.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment, standard kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to periodically work in different job settings in the community (e.g. retail, food service, etc.).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as position requires some evening, weekend and holiday hours. This also includes training and conference attendance, as assigned.
  • Ability to participate in a two week colleague training program of the Clubhouse model.
  • Ability to work alongside the members without being controlling or authoritative unless safety is an issue.
  • Valid MI driver's license and good driving record required per Cherry Health insurance carrier.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with academic concentration in an area relevant to the position, preferred but not required.
  • Must be CPR Certified

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a Clubhouse environment and life or work experience with adults who suffer from mental illness or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.

Possess a valid Michigan driver's license with a clear driving record and must be minimum of 23 years old with five years of driving experience and no restrictions.
