Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift

Position Summary: 
This position plays a key role in the CLT manufacturing department and overall product production. This position will work alongside the department lead to ensure all product attributes are thoroughly evaluated, properly recorded, and effectively communicated to appropriate parties. Quality control is critical for maintaining Sterling’s product integrity and corresponding supporting documentation. 

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct laboratory testing of CLT products. (ASTM D-905 Shear Block and AITC T110 Delamination testing)
  • Create small scale CLT builds and run product testing.
  • Organize and conduct field (or other life cycle) testing and analysis of product as needed.
  • Statistical Process Control(SPC)and analysis of data collected from the CLT processes and incoming inspection(i.e. planer thickness, moisture, CLT mat dimensions)
  • Collaborate with CLT manager, department leads, and maintenance department to develop visual control and processes to promote plant floor organization, storage, and workflow. 
  • Assist CLT manager in maintaining “on the floor” document control for manufacturing and advanced product quality planning (APQP)documents and records.  
  • Analyze incoming inspection data for raw materials and make recommendations for changes to inspection levels.  
  • Review processes as they relate to safety and safe operations of the CLT line and affect changes to procedures, job safety analyses (JSA’s),and the physical line to improve operational safety.  
  • Comply with and advocate for the company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in all other projects as requested by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a high-volume, high automation manufacturing environment.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in manufacturing quality control preferred. 
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing related field preferred.
  • Experience in 5S and Lean manufacturing (i.e. Toyota Production System) 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to demonstrate solid written, oral communication, and record keeping skills.  
  • Strong proficiency with measuring devices including tape measure and calipers.
  • Understanding of Toyota Production System or Lean Manufacturing 
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge and prior implementation of Visual Factory processes.
