Job description

Maintenance Mechanic
Cloverland Dairy is located in Baltimore City, Maryland, where we provide over 300 jobs for local residents. Our products can be found in hospitals, private and public schools, institutions, convenience stores and supermarkets throughout the Mid Atlantic area. The Maintenance Associate is responsible for diagnosing and repairing problems with all production equipment including conveyors, packaging lines, rotary, carton fillers and blow mold machines. Additionally, Maintenance Associates will perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure the product produced is of the highest quality and safe. This role will require daily documentation pertaining to downtime, spare parts, and preventative maintenance performed. This role will also assist with equipment changeovers. Must have own tools.
Work Schedule
2nd and 3rd shift work available, must be able to work weekends
Pay Rate:
  • $31.00/hr and $0.40/hr differential
  • Overtime opportunities available

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical issues on machinery and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on blow mold machines, bottle trimmers, baggers, debaggers, and conveying equipment.
  • Perform planned maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance of machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and that machinery and equipment operate safely.
  • Document maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs and parts used and/or replaced.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Follow all GMP and SQF standards and maintain compliance.
  • Ability to work safe and follow all Cloverland Dairy's state and federal safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Maintenance management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum 3-5 years production maintenance and repair experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years' experience in troubleshooting and repairing control systems - mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic.
  • Experience in Plastic Blow Molding or general manufacturing plastic products is preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing plant preferred but not required.
  • Electrical experience and/or Journeymen Electrician License preferred but not required.
  • Stationary Engineer's License Grade 3 or better preferred but not required.
  • Hands on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade to facilities and production equipment is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental policies, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, etc.
  • General knowledge, skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair the following: plastic bottle filler, carton filler, labelers, video jet printers, tabletop conveyors, vacuum pumps, pneumatics and heat-sealing machines.
  • General understanding and ability to read electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Working understanding and troubleshooting of electrical controls, communications, and circuitry motors.
  • Basic operation understanding of high-speed production equipment.
  • Communicate verbally or written with team members and supervision.
  • Ability to shift directions as requirements and priorities change.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with assistance and kneel, bend, squat, reach, grip, push, pull and perform elevated work.
  • Ability to use hand tools and small power tools.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to distinguish color
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet).
  • Allergens: We prepare products with milk ingredients. Team members must be able to work with this ingredient and participate in sensory.

We offer a competitive benefit pack to include medical, dental and vision benefits for single and family coverage is available on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment.
