Job description

Job Summary

As an Director of Cloud and Server Infrastructure with OMES you will enjoy:

  • Generous leave including 15 days of vacation, 15 days of sick leave and 11 paid holidays annually.

Salary is up to $130,000 based on education and experience.

Full-time 40-hour work weeks

Supports the Information Services Division

Position reports onsite in Oklahoma City

ResponsibilitiesCloud Infrastructure Oversight
  • Provide strategic leadership for enterprise cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Direct and mentor cloud architecture, engineering, and operations teams, cultivating a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee statewide cloud migration initiatives and guide agencies through modernization and transformation activities.
  • Implement cloud governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and financial management standards.
  • Scale cloud automation, orchestration, and monitoring capabilities to improve reliability and reduce operational overhead.
  • Partner with cybersecurity, engineering, and operations teams to deliver secure, end‑to‑end cloud solutions.
  • Collaborate with leadership across OMES and agencies to ensure cloud strategies support business and service objectives.
  • Optimize cloud spend through forecasting, cost governance, and vendor management, ensuring high value and transparency.
  • Continuously evaluate new cloud technologies, tools, and methodologies to advance OMES cloud maturity and service offerings.
Team Leadership & Management
  • Lead and mentor cloud/server engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
  • Conduct regular stand‑ups and leadership meetings to align priorities and resource allocation.
  • Review and approve work plans, change requests, and project timelines for accuracy and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee staffing, succession planning, training programs, and performance evaluations to build a world‑class cloud and server infrastructure team.
Infrastructure Planning & Maintenance
  • Oversee lifecycle management of applicable hardware/software, including upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
  • Evaluate and approve architecture changes to ensure scalability, security, and compliance.
  • Maintain alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements for cloud and server operations.
Strategic Planning & Budgeting
  • Define and execute a multi‑year cloud and server strategy aligned with organizational objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Plan for future capacity, emerging technologies, and automation.
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee procurement of the applicable services and equipment.
  • Develop and manage the cloud and server budget, ensuring cost optimization and ROI.
Security & Compliance
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce security policies and implement advanced threat protection.
  • Participate in audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to maintain regulatory adherence.
Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Partner with CIO/CTO, application teams, and business units to support enterprise initiatives such as cloud migrations and modernization projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and input for enterprise architecture committees and governance boards.
  • Communicate cloud and server strategy, risks, and performance updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for performance, security posture, and operational efficiency.
  • Review and present performance and capacity metrics and strategic progress to senior leadership and board‑level audiences.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for server topology, policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.

Physical Demands and Work Environment This position works in an office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. This position requires standing, bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, moving, and carrying up to 50 pounds or more. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred.

Requirements include 5 years of experience in an information technology field, 3 years of which must be in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Cloud and Server experience is required.

  • Deep knowledge of cloud and server technologies, networking, and enterprise architecture.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, monitoring platforms, and observability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
  • Strong managerial skills, to include communication, employee accountability, and change management.
