The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from:

Job Summary

We are searching for a HIGHLY SKILLED Lead Cloud Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced digital solutions. The incumbent will be expected to be a self-starter, motivated to explore new technologies independently while ensuring robust and scalable architecture across the organization. The Lead Cloud Architect will provide strong and scalable organizational architecture while delivering technical leadership, strategic planning, and cross-team collaboration. The incumbent will have extensive experience managing teams, designing complex platforms, and leveraging modern cloud and DevOps methodologies.

The Lead Cloud Architect role reports to the Sr. Manager - IT Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of cloud-based solutions and platforms,ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure using AWS and Azure, including IaC and CaCmethodologies for consistent and efficient deployments.

  • Develop and enforce CI/CD strategies for efficient software development and deployment acrossdevelopment, QA, and production environments.

  • Establish comprehensive solution architecture documentation to guide internal teams in delivering consistent and maintainable software solutions.

  • Oversee microservices frameworks and front-end architectures to ensure alignment with industrybest practices.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in DevOps, infrastructure management, and cloud solutions,providing strategic technical guidance to internal and client teams.

  • Collaborate with clients and various departments to understand and translate business needs into technical requirements.

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, withinbudget, and in line with customer expectations.

  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends, proactively suggesting innovative solutions to enhance business outcomes.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the architecture and DevOps teams, ensuringprocesses constantly evolve to meet emerging challenges.

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading digital transformation projects, ensuring scalability,maintainability, and high availability.

  • Proven success in overseeing the end-to-end implementation of DevOps pipelines andestablishing effective CI/CD toolchains for reliable software delivery.

  • Previous experience migrating legacy systems to cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure,resulted in significant cost savings and improved scalability.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of software architecture best practices, DevOps principles, and secure coding standards.

  • Familiarity with critical cloud services (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager) andtechnologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, and GitLab.

  • Excellent knowledge of Linux, networking, storage, and virtualization technologies.

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies, document them, and apply the acquiredknowledge to create innovative solutions and platforms.

  • Advanced proficiency in programming and scripting languages like Java, Python, Bash, SQL, andJavaScript.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including mentoring and guiding multidisciplinaryteams.

  • Strategic planning and critical thinking capabilities to align architecture with business objectives.

  • Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong background in managing cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality softwarearchitecture solutions in the finance, utilities, and retail sectors.

  • Previous experience designing PoC using AI on AWS services, such as Amazon Bedrock,Amazon Q, Amazon CodeWhisperer, or Copilot.

  • Extensive understanding of cloud computing platforms, especially AWS and Azure, includingcertifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.

  • Solid grasp of infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration as code (CaC) practices for efficientand consistent infrastructure deployment.

  • Creative problem-solving, adaptability, and effective decision-making, particularly in high-pressure environments.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

  • Resilience and adaptability in learning new technologies through experimentation and learningfrom failure, with a results-driven mindset.

  • Work closely with IT business analysts and IT architects to define cloud solutions followingbusiness and application requirements.

  • Co-operate with the technical teams to balance usability and technical concerns in Cloud design.

  • Work closely with AVANGRID Architecture team to implement, evolve IT standard andarchitecture models as required.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with 3rd party suppliers (mainly cloud) for operationalactivities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field of study and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
