Job Summary:
HP IQ is HP’s new AI innovation lab focused on creating intelligent technologies that redefine collaboration and productivity. As a Lead Software Engineer, Cloud Services, you will design scalable backend systems and lead the technical strategy for cloud-native solutions that support HP IQ's mission.
Responsibilities:
• Lead technical strategy and execution across development and infrastructure, designing and implementing scalable, secure cloud-native systems while establishing architecture standards and engineering best practices.
• Own end-to-end delivery of platform and cloud services, including infrastructure buildout, application architecture, APIs, deployment pipelines, observability, reliability, and performance, while mentoring engineers and driving cross-functional alignment.
• Work with modern containerization and cloud technologies, including Kubernetes.
• Collaborate across engineering, design, product, and marketing teams to help shape our product vision and deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Lead the execution of projects across full-stack engineering teams (device, web, backend, infrastructure) with clear communication and coordination.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience architecting and implementing distributed and scalable systems.
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot–based application development.
• Knowledge of private cloud offerings, focusing on infrastructure layers such as VMs, VPCs, storage, and IAM.
• Experience deploying services on containerized systems, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Nomad.
• In-depth knowledge of observability and related tools.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous environments and distill requirements into actionable solutions.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across diverse teams.
Preferred:
• Proficiency in building applications using frameworks like Spring Boot or similar technologies.
• Experience designing robust and scalable database schemas using databases such as Postgres or DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery strategies and multi-region development.
• Experience designing interfaces for diverse consumers, including factory lines, mobile devices, and web applications.
• Familiarity with software security and systems that manage sensitive user data.
