Summary

The Data & Analytics Engineer is responsible for supporting and evolving Peterson’s enterprise analytics platform. This role performs data engineering, analytics delivery, and reporting, with a focus on modern cloud data platforms, layered data architecture, Power BI reporting, and AI‑enabled (including agentic) workflows to improve speed, quality, and scale—while maintaining data accuracy, governance, and trust.

Essential Job Functions
  • Ingest and manage data across Raw, Transformed, and Curated layers based on business and analytics requirements.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines using modern cloud data architectures, including Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric, and support existing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) workloads and Azure Data Factory where applicable.
  • Design and develop curated, analytics‑ready datasets using SQL‑based transformation approaches.
  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and semantic models, primarily in Power BI.
  • Use Python and AI/agentic workflows to accelerate data ingestion and schema discovery, source‑to‑target mapping and transformation logic, ETL troubleshooting and optimization, report and dashboard generation, and data validation, reconciliation, and impact analysis.
  • Apply and maintain strong data quality, reconciliation, and documentation standards.
  • Support data ingestion, modeling, and analytics enablement for finance and enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Develop reusable data pipelines, transformation patterns, and data models to improve consistency and scalability.
  • Contribute to data and analytics standards, best practices, and frameworks as part of an evolving Data & Analytics Center of Excellence.
  • Partner with business, finance, and IT teams to define requirements, validate outputs, and deliver trusted analytics solutions.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field; and a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Must be comfortable working on‑site and collaborating closely with business, finance, and IT teams.
  • Required Experience:
    • Strong SQL and data warehousing experience, with hands‑on work in modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar), including ETL/ELT ingestion and transformations.
    • Experience with Python for data engineering, automation, and AI‑enabled workflows.
    • Hands‑on experience building production reports and dashboards (Power BI required; other BI tools acceptable).
    • Experience working with Microsoft integration tools, including SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.
    • Experience supporting end‑to‑end data pipelines, from ingestion through analytics and reporting.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, or similar), with the ability to work across evolving architectures.
    • Finance domain knowledge (GL, revenue, costs, contracts).
    • Microsoft Dynamics or ERP data migration experience.
    • Experience working within the Microsoft ecosystem / Microsoft 365.
    • Experience with Spark/PySpark or notebook‑based data processing for advanced transformations.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.
