Job description

Summary

This position will provide prompt, friendly,courteous, and reliable service and assistance to customers and will superviseand direct all Front-End operations.  Assists General Manager in the performance of her or his duties and helps direct all store personnel to provide the highest standards of service to the store’s customers.  Trains personnel and supervises all their activities to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

o  Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner.

o  Supports the Manager directing and monitoring Grocery operations.

o  Responsible for the performance and supervision of all grocery clerks. Ensures their compliance with store and department policies and procedures.

o  Builds and merchandises displays to obtain maximum sales and profit, ensuring they are neat, colorful, and properly signed.

o  Ensures that grocery personnel keep shelves fully stocked, and faced or blocked according to the tag allocation and department standards.

o  Directs and supervises grocery staff to keep perishable merchandise rotated in accordance with store policy and product code dates, pulls out-of-code merchandise.

o  Ensures Front-End (POS) accuracy and integrity.

o Directs and supervises a regular and effective housekeeping program throughout the store.

o  Ensures that employees respond promptly to emergencies or potential safety hazards, such as spills and broken glass or containers.

o  Assists with the training of new and existing employees.

o  Actively participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels, improving overall store operations and customer service.

o  Recognizes and follows all Cashier policies and procedures. Monitors checkout stations for Cashier performance and needs.

o  Monitors checkout stations to reduce customer delay.  Calls additional workers to stations when situation warrants.

o  Promotes customer good will by providing high standards of customer service.

o  Issues cash to stations and removes excess cash. Audits cash register tapes.

o  Processes all types of sales transactions accepted by the store, including, but not necessarily limited to, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, EFT transactions, WIC Coupons, Food Stamps, manufacturers coupons, gift certificates, etc., in strict accordance with established company policies and procedures.

o  Ensures proper bagging procedures by front-end personnel, including carry-out service.

o  Ensures that return-to-stock items are handled in a prompt and orderly manner.

o Performs other duties as assigned by the store

management personnel.

o Provides supervision and training of other associates as required by the store management.

o Meets the physical requirements to perform the job functions listed above.


Education and Experience

o High school education or the equivalent combination of education and background.

o Some college education preferred

o Should have a minimum of at least one year of experience in the supermarket industry

o Should have a comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of retail operations
