Job Description

We are looking for an Assembly Solutions Buyer/Planner to join our Rexel USA team in Santa Clara, CA!

Summary:
The Assembly Solutions Buyer/Planner is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and planning the procurement of raw materials, components, and services to meet production and customer demand for assigned Assembly Center. This role bridges purchasing and planning functions, ensuring that inventory levels, supplier performance, and production schedules align to support operational efficiency.
What You'll Do:

  • Source, evaluate, and select vendors meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements in concert with Engineering; negotiate purchase prices and terms
  • Analyze demand forecasts, develop purchase requisitions, and convert them into purchase orders using MRP or ERP systems
  • Monitor stock levels to maintain minimum stock while avoiding overstock; track inventory performance and report on status
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships, review supplier performance, and resolve delivery or quality issues in support and partnership with the Quality Engineering team.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and operations to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods
  • Prepare reports on purchase activity, supplier performance, and inventory status; maintain accurate purchase records
  • Adhere to company purchasing policies, ethics, and relevant regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You'll Need

  • 3+ years experience in Purchasing, Buying, Planning, or Supplier quality
  • Experience with MRP, ERP, and inventory systems preferred
  • Experience with Six Sigma, cost reduction initiatives, or change management preferred
  • Certifications such as APICS, CPIM, CSCP, or ISM perferred
  • High School or GED - Required
  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Management, or Supplier Quality focus a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle MRP)
  • Knowledge of lean principles, Kanban, and material requirements planning
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Problem-solving and time management skills
  • Familiarity with production scheduling and supply chain analytics tools preferred
