The Opportunity Join Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Platforms as a Senior Full Stack Engineer focused on app.hsbc with end-to-end responsibility for one or more platform products and services. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances new delivery with the ongoing remediation of technical debt and the improvement of engineering standards across development pods

You will set a technology strategy that improves reliability and release cadence while reducing production incidents. The role operates in a regulated environment where safe predictable change and strong risk and control discipline are essential. Success means small regular non-breaking releases improved operational readiness and measurable gains in service reliability.

You will partner closely with key stakeholders to prioritize outcomes and manage trade-offs across time risk and quality. What you'll be doing Own end-to-end delivery across build test release and run for platform products and services Set and communicate technology strategy balancing business delivery with ongoing technical debt remediation Improve development pods and ways of working measured through fewer production incidents and increased release cadence Advance engineering excellence including automation strong testing discipline code quality continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) maturity and operational readiness Design reliability into services by addressing non-functional requirements including performance resilience observability and recoverability Ensure safe predictable change through small regular non-breaking releases plus release execution change management and operational acceptance Run production support rituals including incident response problem management post-incident reviews (PIRs) retrospectives and stand-ups and ensure root causes are fixed Manage risk and control items proactively including vulnerabilities plus control and governance processes Prioritize work with stakeholders including Technology Owner (Tech Owner) Product Owner and Information Technology Security Officer (ITSO) Mentor colleagues to adopt platform capabilities through pairing documentation and knowledge sharing Own objectives and key results (OKRs) setting and review with regular check-ins to track progress and outcomes Communicate progress and impact by sharing updates and achievements and identifying broader contribution opportunities for the team What we're looking for Bring strong full-stack development and operations (DevOps) experience across build test release and run including Continuous Delivery practices Demonstrate hands-on ability to code and deploy to production across at least two languages and learn new stacks as needed such as Java JavaScript Clojure and Python Apply relational database experience with PostgreSQL preferred Use working knowledge of Unix with a solid infrastructure understanding and comfort operating across Unix and Windows environments Design and consume Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) application programming interfaces (APIs) such as Representational State Transfer (REST) Apply strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills to support delivery and improve production outcomes Show proven technical leadership through raising engineering standards coaching and improving team ways of working Demonstrate strong production support capability including observability incident management problem management and service reliability improvements Manage multiple development teams and partner directly with Product Owners end-to-end with minimal reliance on intermediary roles Apply strong stakeholder management and make sound trade-offs across time risk and quality including knowing when to escalate Apply working knowledge of cybersecurity and regulatory requirements such as data privacy consent and data residency and apply them in delivery Building reliable platforms for app.hsbc This role provides ownership of platform outcomes from strategy through production operations in Toronto.
