Job description
Function of Position:
The part-time clinical supervisor is a temporary position hired and appointed by Monroe Community College on a semester-by-semester basis. The clinical supervisor works collaboratively with the clinical coordinator and is assigned to a specific clinical education center or centers (CEC) on a semester-by-semester basis to provide assigned students with instruction/supervision, and is responsible for evaluation of student competence. The clinical supervisor spends 100% of his/her time performing required clinical responsibilities.
Clinical Supervisors teach clinical courses, develop new educational materials, assist with curriculum review and assessment, perform professional duties and participate in departmental and institutional functions, including department meetings. Part-time faculty report to the program director and chairperson of the Health Professions Department. Academic departments are led by a peer who serves as a department chair for a three-year term. Faculty are responsible for preparing and teaching clinical courses in the department and will be assigned at affiliate clinical locations. The successful candidate will bring to our school a particular expertise in Radiologic Technology. In addition to teaching clinical courses, the part-time faculty member will revise and develop protocols and policies with the clinical coordinator, specific to the assigned clinical facility. We seek a candidate with interest in active collaboration with our college and department as well as our Radiologic Technology program.
*This is a temporary, part-time position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of college budget and performance reviews.*
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adheres to criteria stated in the Radiologic Technology Program Policy Manual
- Collaborates with FT faculty in the student remediation process and communicates student progress
- Is knowledgeable of program mission and goals, clinical objectives and the clinical evaluation system
- Evaluates students' clinical competence
- Serves on committees, participates in pertinent program meetings as well as professional development programs as required by the program, department, or college
- Attends and prepares all student orientation sessions as assigned
- Represents the program in a professional manner in the clinical setting and at professional and college related activities
- Participates in the evaluation, review, and revision of clinical education courses and teaching methods.
- Meets clinical education assignments and other program commitments
- Assumes clinical responsibilities
- Assumes affiliate coordination responsibilities as assigned
- Provides clinical education instruction/supervision, as well as evaluates student competence at the assigned clinical education center
- Complies with educational objectives addressed in the Clinical Education Booklet which includes course criteria for all clinical education courses. (Clinical participation, type of supervision, competencies, competency testing, clinical evaluation, record keeping requirements, clinical assessment instruments, and mid-term and final grade worksheets.)
- Prepares and distributes clinical affiliate documents specific to assigned location(s)
- Supervises and assists students or designates qualified radiographer to supervise and assist students. Specifics are listed below:
- Assures review and assignment of appropriate patient orders based upon student competency and patient factors
- Assures radiographic quality is evaluated with the student and meets department standards
- Assures integration of students into departmental activities and informs students of departmental procedural changes and revisions
- Assures direct supervision of students, until students meet the programs' clinical competency requirement for a given procedure (Policy 16)
- Assures that unsatisfactory radiographs shall be repeated in the presence of a qualified radiographer (Policy 16)
- Provides regularly scheduled pre/post conferences and Image Analysis evaluation conferences, for the purpose of instruction and integration of students into departmental functions and activities.
- Evaluates student performance and provides counseling periodically. When applicable, documents in writing any counseling session (positive or negative) on an Anecdotal Record/Counseling Record/Bi-weekly Anecdotal Form.
- Contacts/meets with Clinical Coordinator/Program Director regarding clinical issues/situations, and has written documentation prepared for discussion and resolution.
- Monitors students regarding: Attendance, Dress Code, Professional Conduct, Radiation Protection/Dosimeter Usage, Standard precautions, Other related activities
- Maintains all clinical documentation in the Trajecsys platform to include review of daily student evaluations, daily logs, and competencies
- Submits the following documents at mid-term and final dates as required: Clinical affiliate orientation documents, Radiographic Area Assignments/Room Assignments, Schedule of pre/post and Image Analysis conferences (may add to room assignment schedule), Clinical Supervisor administered Image Analyses, Affiliate meetings as needed and submission of meeting minutes to clinical coordinator
- Calculates course grade as determined by student evaluation materials. Assures students have signed all evaluations and competencies (adjuncts are required to discuss evaluations with students and obtain signatures).
- Reviews and summarizes clinical evaluations, comments, and student suggestions. Discusses areas of strengths, and methods of improvement with student
- Assures completion of, collects , and student records at mid-term and at the end of the semester
- Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.
- Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment.
- Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College.
- Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.
- Commits to professional growth. which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.
Required Qualifications:
- A.A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology from a regionally accredited higher education institution
- Current NYSDOH, Licensed Radiologic Technologist
- Current ARRT, Radiologic Technologist Certification
- Two (2) years minimum experience as a radiographer
- Maintains competency in the professional discipline and instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development in professional organizations such as the ASRT
- AERT, and NYSSRS
- Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs
- Evidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college
- Evidence of proficiency with technology
- Commitment to continued professional growth
- Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skills
- High standards and integrity
- Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution
- Proficient in supervision, instruction, and evaluation
- Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies

Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has an hourly range of $50 to $56 and is based on these mentioned factors.
