Clinical Lab Scientist - Flow Cytometry Location: Modesto, CA Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Employment Type: Full-Time Job Description We are seeking an experienced Flow Cytometry Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to perform high-complexity testing in Flow Cytometry and Molecular Laboratory disciplines. This position is responsible for the complete testing process, including specimen accessioning, sample preparation, analysis, quality review, and reporting of patient results within a regulated clinical laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will possess a current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license, a strong background in high-complexity testing, and excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and a strong commitment to quality and patient safety. Job Responsibilities Perform daily high-complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens within Flow Cytometry and Molecular testing areas. Perform specimen accessioning, processing, sample preparation, analysis, review, and reporting of laboratory results. Conduct Flow Cytometry testing according to established laboratory procedures and quality standards. Perform manual molecular laboratory techniques as required. Prepare, maintain, and qualify laboratory solutions and reagents according to established protocols. Monitor quality control results and identify test system deviations from established performance specifications. Document and implement appropriate corrective actions for quality control or testing issues. Review patient results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with laboratory procedures. Perform troubleshooting of testing procedures, instrumentation, reagents, and other laboratory issues. Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including routine maintenance, calibration, cleaning, and certification activities. Maintain a clean, organized, functional, and safe laboratory environment. Follow established laboratory safety procedures when handling patient specimens, hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Identify opportunities to improve laboratory workflow, efficiency, productivity, and quality. Provide feedback and recommendations regarding laboratory processes and operational improvements. Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and quality management requirements. Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other laboratory software for documentation and workflow management. Depending on experience, participate in or lead the validation of new laboratory tests and methodologies. Assist with writing, reviewing, and updating laboratory procedures, validation documentation, and reports. Participate in or lead LIMS validation activities when appropriate. Maintain compliance with applicable laboratory regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards. Demonstrate sound judgment and quick decision-making when addressing technical or operational issues. Required Qualifications Licensure Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license authorizing the performance of high-complexity testing. Experience & Technical Requirements Experience performing high-complexity clinical laboratory testing. Knowledge of general laboratory procedures, protocols, and techniques. Ability to perform manual molecular laboratory techniques. Experience with quality control procedures and corrective action documentation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to accurately prepare and handle specimens, reagents, and laboratory solutions. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of high-complexity clinical laboratory testing experience. Strong hands-on Flow Cytometry experience. Experience within a Molecular Laboratory environment. Experience with specimen preparation, acquisition, analysis, interpretation, and result reporting. Experience with laboratory instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Experience validating new laboratory tests, assays, or methodologies. Experience developing and reviewing laboratory procedures and technical documentation. Experience with LIMS validation and laboratory information systems. Experience working within a regulated and accredited clinical laboratory environment. Familiarity with CAP requirements and laboratory quality management systems. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of Flow Cytometry and high-complexity laboratory testing.
