The Corcoran digital photography studios are located at Smith Hall of Art at the Foggy Bottom Campus. These studios serve photography majors and various new media and photography intro classes.
Position Specific Summary
Digital lab tech applicants should be organized, neat, detail-oriented, and have excellent people skills. The majority of this position is spent assisting students with inkjet printing both small and wide format and scanning film and reflective materials. This position supports two Mac labs and a variety of Epson printers and scanners.
All shifts are to provide open studio time for students to complete class assignments. It is essential to be punctual and present during all shifts. At least one evening or weekend day required.
Techs are responsible for:
  • daily cleaning
  • enforcing safe practices
  • providing technical support to students
  • photography, sound, and video equipment checkout using webcheckout software
  • general assistance to students
  • general computer, printer, and scanner upkeep

Standard Position Description
The student will perform basic laboratory duties and maintain supplies and stocks/inventory. Tasks may include: assisting in specific projects being completed in the lab, cleaning equipment, assisting and monitoring lab usage. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of photography/digital media education or currently enrolled in a class. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Epson printers, and scanners. Experience scanning film, wide format printing, and color correct printing preferred.
