Job description

Yosemite Pathology is a private independent pathologist owned and operated surgical pathology and cytology laboratory based in Modesto, CA. YP provides comprehensive state of the art, reliable, and accurate diagnostic services to its physicians and major area hospitals in the Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Kern, Mariposa, Merced, San Joaquin, Solano, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties. YP offers a full spectrum of tissue pathology, cytology, and histology services, including examination of gynecologic specimens, body fluids and fine needle aspiration specimens. We also offer an extensive array of special stains and immunohistochemistry to assist in the management of oncologic and non-oncologic diseases. The laboratory is supported by highly qualified Histotechnologist, Cytotechnologist, Technicians and office staff who offer excellent service.Summary/ObjectiveThe CLS is responsible for performance of the daily high complexity laboratory testing procedures on patient samples in both the Flow Cytometry and Molecular Laboratories. This includes specimen accessioning, sample preparation, analysis, review and reporting of results within the regulated quality management system of the CAP certified laboratory.Location: ModestoShift: Tuesday - Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pmEssential FunctionsThe CLS maintains, prepares, and qualifies solutions and reagents used in the laboratory according to protocol.Monitors quality control and documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specificationsDemonstrates initiative in making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity and provides consistent feedbackMaintains laboratory in a clean, functional state, as well as cleaning, performing or scheduling equipment and instrument maintenance/calibration/certification, as required.Depending on experience, the CLS may validate or direct the validation of new tests in the laboratory; write and reviews procedures, reports; and participate and/ or direct LIMS validations.Quick decision-making abilitiesAbility to troubleshoot issuesJob Requirements and Skills Licensed in the State of CA to perform high complexity molecular testing (California CLS license.)3+ years of equivalent experience (high complexity testing) preferredAbility to perform manual molecular techniques.Facility with EXCEL, MSWordAbility to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environmentDemonstrated ability to understand priorities and work accordinglyDemonstrated attention to detail and honest communication regarding errors and misunderstandingStrong communication skillsAbility to work in a high stress environmentAttention to detailKnowledge of general laboratory protocols and techniquesStrong interpersonal skillsQuality FocusCompensation and Benefits The compensation is $120,000 - $140,000 annually paid semi-monthly on an eight (8) hour per day, forty (40) hour per week.
