If you are an experienced RN who is passionate about mentoring the next generation of nurses, you might be a great fit for our Practical Nursing Clinical Adjunct Instructor position at Dixie Technical College!The Practical Nursing Clinical Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and supervision to practical nursing students in both laboratory and clinical settings. This role involves guiding students in developing essential nursing skills, applying theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. The instructor will evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the overall success of the practical nursing program.This position requires 12 - 28 hours per week. Primarily, clinicals will be on Mondays and Fridays. Clinical shifts are 12 hours. We will hire either one person for both Monday and Friday or two individuals, each taking one. Additional lab hours Monday through Thursday could potentially be available. The position pays $37 - $41 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Clinical Instruction:Supervise students in various clinical settings (e.g., hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics) to ensure safe and competent patient care delivery.Guide students in applying nursing process concepts, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in real-world situations.Facilitate pre- and post-conference discussions to enhance learning and reflection.Evaluate student clinical performance using established program criteria and provide timely, constructive feedback.Collaborate with clinical site staff to ensure a positive learning experience for students and compliance with facility policies.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and incidents in the clinical area.Laboratory Instruction:Plan, organize, and conduct lab sessions that simulate real-world nursing scenarios, focusing on essential practical nursing skills (e.g., vital signs, medication administration, wound care, sterile technique).Demonstrate nursing procedures and techniques accurately and clearly.Provide individualized and group instruction to help students achieve competency in psychomotor skills.Assess student skill proficiency through demonstrations, simulations, and practical exams.Maintain lab equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and functional learning environment.Provide remediation and additional practice opportunities for students requiring further development.Develop and execute active and diverse learning experiences that retain the interest of students while transmitting information and developing skills in the most effective manner, with a heavy emphasis on learning by doing.Maintain a structured learning environment that complies with the course syllabus and course plan.Communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities. Ensure the classroom and lab are prepared for daily learning activities.Other Duties As directed by full-time instructors or lesson plans, assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments in a timely manner.Observe, evaluate, and record students' performance and development and provide appropriate and helpful feedback. Notify full-time instructors when problems develop before they become critical.Manage student behavior by enforcing the Dixie Technical College Student Code of Conduct and Practical Nursing classroom rules and procedures, involving full-time instructors in the student behavior process. With the assistance of full-time instructors, ensure that student data is updated on a real-time basis in Northstar. Maintain integrity and confidentiality in all circumstances, especially concerning student information.Assure safety standards are used which comply with all College, local, City, State, and Federal guidelines. Adhere to FERPA requirements and guidelines.Model a professional environment for the students in the classroom and lab.Be an active and participative member of the program's instructional team and communicate effectively with program director and program instructors.Be open to feedback and seek to continuously improve both teaching and technical skills.With the assistance of full-time instructors, actively ensure program follows all guidelines and conditions necessary to meet the standards of COE accreditation.Assist with biannual Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meetings as requested, if applicable.Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition.
