Please note relocation is required for this role to:

Odessa, TX

Clinical Lab Assistant - Emergency Department
Full-Time Position (3 x 12 hours shifts)
Schedule: 11:00am - 11:00pm - every other Sunday rotation (weekend rotation subject to change based on staffing needs of the unit)

Job Summary:

  • Performs venipunctures and skin punctures competently and expediently to collect patient samples
  • Is trained to perform activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment
  • Performs specified lab tests in Microbiology, Serology, Hematology and Urinalysis
  • Participates in proficiency testing and performance improvement activities, while retaining full competency of skills
  • Has thorough knowledge of in-house test requirements
  • Able to receive and prioritize processing of specimens to include initiation of testing, verification of results and follow-up to ensure the timely completion of pending items
  • Provides service to a wide variety of patients from infant to geriatric
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean environment plus clean equipment. assists by taking inventory of reagents, ordering and stocking of materials as needed, stocking & rotating those older in expiration dates.
  • Relies on SOP instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Works under direct Lab Technician supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting required

  • Completes the application and passes the AMT certification exam after having completed 1 year of work in all lab disciplines

  • Completes continuing education assignments and participates in performance improvement activities
